The New England Confectionery Company (Necco) traces its roots back to 1847 as the oldest multiline candy company in the US. Necco is headquartered in Revere, Ma and manufactures the Necco Wafer, Sweethearts, Mary Jane, Mighty Malts, Haviland, Candy House Candy Buttons, and Squirrel Nut Zipper brands.

Once the home of the largest candy factory in the world, in 1942 the company dedicated a large portion of its warehouse to manufacturing war materials until the end of World War II. NECCO has acquired several smaller candy companies since, such as Stark Candy and Clark Bar America, but the majority of their sales still come for the Valentine conversation hearts line of products.

The one trillionth Necco Wafer candy was produced in the fall of 2010.
