Chef Boyardee

Chef Boyardee: Spaghetti, Pizza, Lasagna, Ravioli and More

The brand Chef Boyardee, as we grew up with it, began with Ettore Boiardi. Born in Italy in 1898, he immigrated to the United States arriving in Ellis Island in 1914 and joined his older brother in the kitchen at the Plaza Hotel. A culinary protégé, he quickly worked his way up to head chef and by age 24 opened his own restaurant in Cleveland. His spaghetti dinners were so delicious that customers asked the Chef to sell them his spaghetti sauce. In a few years, the spaghetti sauce was so popular that he devoted himself full-time to selling it. “Chef Boyardee” came about to make it easier on American customers to pronounce “Boiardi” correctly.

The current line of Chef Boyardee includes pizza kits, lasagna, ravioli and spaghetti sauces. Some are harder to find than others depending on where you live. Of course, Hometown Favorites is always one click away.
