Originated in 1921 by Fred W. Amend in Chicago. The first candy maker to solve the largest problem with jelly candies back then, the outbreak of "sweat" on jelly candies. During the end of World War II, 65% of the company's production was for military use. Mr. Amend's company was sold to Nabisco in 1970.
