Volume 2, Issue 1, Spring 2003

…And the Sleuthing Continues!
When we started Hometown Favorites in 1996, tracking down your requests was a different proposition than it is today.
Pre-internet, it was likely for us to find that the Company A had sold that line to Company B, who had since been bought up by Company C, except for that product, now being produced by Company D.  We pursued our searches ‘til the end of the trail, so that our authenticity as a source for “hard to find” food products would be indisputable.

New Technology = Super Sleuth
T
hese days, our searches are a bit easier. Our links to hundreds of manufacturers enable us to at least have an inkling of where to begin our search. We're more than likely to have some information on the product you're looking for, even if it's not the news you'd hoped. But how fun it is to finally have an answer to "whatever happened to Strawberry Shortcake cereal?"!

We'll Find Your Favorites!
Your requests for products and our desire to secure them have enabled Hometown Favorites to expand our inventory to over 1000 items today.  But it doesn’t end there.  With another 1000 items on our list of “Things to Find”
(Robin Hood Pizza Crust Mix, Nerds cereal, Salerno Butter Cookies) the Food Detective digs on.
If it's still in production, we will try to secure it for you.  If we confirm its demise, we’ll share that with you also. Keep those requests coming in – your hometown favorite may find its way to our aisles soon
.

Spring Training, Daylight Savings
Time and Easter Sunday!

Even April’s showers can’t dampen our excitement for what’s right around the corner.   More reasons to be outside, more daylight to enjoy it – more hometown favorites to take with you!   Our Wearin’ o’ the Green basket is highlighted on our home page right now (great for St. Pat’s Day, new job, graduation, big raise!), but our nostalgic Easter basket will take center stage late this month.   We’ve selected some of the candies we remember receiving as kids for Easter, along with lots we WISH we’d received.
Great for big, big kids too!

Last But Not Least - New Items!
We’re working on lots of Brook’s and Nalley’s products (you’ve asked for Brook’s Tangy
Ketchup for years!) and continue to add to our immense assortment of candy (can’t get enough of these can you?).  Now in stock – Rock Candy, Clear Toy suckers (also known as Barley Pops), Magic Dust Popping Candy (in Chili, chocolate and cola flavors??) Also, Red Hot Dollars are back in production and should be on-line soon.

From Spring Break Headquarters,
Colleen
