Volume 2, Issue 2, Summer 2003

With the college students home for the summer and the little ones counting the days 'til they're done, it's nice to be heading into the summer stretch. Whether you're home for summer with the kids or working out summer camp schedules, a change in surroundings is good - it's fun to mix things up every once and a while!

In keeping with that "change is good" idea, Hometown Favorites has some changes in store for you on our website. We're on our way to over 500 different candies on our Candy aisle, making navigation and searching for a specific candy quite a journey. Our new home page and aisles, which will debut this summer, will give you lots more options and make searching for your favorites (looking for just mints or needing ideas for 60's candies) a lot easier. Our Hard to Find Grocer section will look just like the corner market, all the chili's in one aisle, the Dromedary Gingerbread Mix right next to the G Washington Gingerbread Mix. Watch for it around the 4th of July and let us know how you like it!

SUMMER HEAT ALERT!
Summer heat dictates a change in our shipping methods for many "meltable" candies. From June 1st through September 15th, we recommend Priority Mail shipments to ensure that your products arrive in good condition. You'll be able to identify that a specific candy is meltable and requires this additional shipping charge, just by checking the description. All other grocery products and candies will continue to ship UPS ground, unless otherwise requested.

Production will begin shortly on Black Jack, Beemans and Clove gums; we expect our shipment to arrive in late September. This gum is being produced in limited quantities; once it's gone we don't expect it will be available again for another four years. If you've received this e-mail, you will receive another e-mail notification in September, reminding you that this product is now available. Order early and order enough! We want to make sure our previous customers are taken care of first.

Father's Day is June 15th. If the tie and cologne idea is getting a bit long in the tooth, be sure to check out both our Decade Boxes and Father Knows Best basket, both absolutely perfect ideas for Dads (trust me on this). Want to know what Dad was like when he was young? Have Dad open one of these gifts on Father's Day and the stories will just pour like butter! Lot's of fun for the whole family.

Lastly, what's coming up? We're working on Green Goddess Dressing, College Inn broths, Keebler Danish Wedding Cookies, Malt-o-Meal, Milnot Canned Milk, Bell's Stuffing, Pik-Nik Ketchup Fries, Blue Monday Candy Bars, Cinnamon Suckers, to name just a few. If you haven't visited our aisles lately, you may have missed our full lines of Brook's tomato products, Nalley's stews and gravies, Barley Pops, Magic Dust Popping Candy, Whirly 3" Rainbow Pops and lots more.

Let the summer begin!
