1970's Candy

A bit more serious than the lighthearted 60’s, the 70’s dawned as an era of individualism, often coined the “Me” decade. Information overload led to a greater concern for world peace and the beginning of the “green” movement. But it wasn’t all serious. With Mary Tyler Moore, Flip Wilson and Goldie Hawn ruling the evening airwaves, the 70’s could still bring on the crazies. If the 70’s brought us disco, we can only imagine the fun candies associated with the 1970’s!

Probably the star of 70’s candies was Pop Rocks, the in- your- mouth explosion the likes of which 70’s kids had never experienced before. Still available in the retro package and flavor as initially introduced, those same 70’s kids are now sharing this fun with kids of their own. The 70’s also introduced us to liquid centers gum, most notably Freshen-Up Gum in Bubble Gum flavor.

And as an ode to the explosion of video games and all things computer in the 1970’s, 70’s candies would not be complete without Atari Joystick gum and Pacman Pellets, surely two of the most played video games of all time!
